The Village Reads club raised funds for their inaugural event, held in April, 2023, and have raised funds in subsequent years for their annual event. The event is part of the “Common Read” concept happening in communities all over the nation. They raised money again for their 2024 and 2025 events.
One of the goals of the event is to bring together the Laguna Woods Village reading community through a common experience. The event features stimulating and fun presentations and discussions about the book… as well as some snacks!
The book selected for 2023 was “Lessons in Chemistry” by Bonnie Garmus. The book read in 2024 was Lisa See’s “Lady Tan’s Circle of Women”.
For their spectacular 2022 show, “The Aqua Follies”, $7,000 was raised to help pay for production costs, including the many different costumes the renowned Aquadettes wore for their performance.
For their 2023 show, “Aquadettes on Broadway”, they raised funds for much needed upgrades to their sound system, curtains, and costumes.
The Aquadettes of Laguna Woods Village are a fun group of women with a common love of synchronized swimming.
